Mrs. Madison's class investigated area using tape & the floor tiles!

Students in Mrs. Phillips' class learn about forensic science from Deputy Anthony. They were able to determine facts vs. what they see on TV about this interesting field of science.

Math 5/6 are growing and glowing! Students earned a glow day and are solving math problems that stretch their thinking. What a fun way to share their thinking!

We had a great turnout this morning for the first Math 24 Tournament Club! At the Math 24 Tournament Club, students learn how to play the popular game where they use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to reach the target number 24. This helps to sharpen mental math, problem-solving, and number sense skills. In the spring, students will have the option of competing in the tournament

Happy Principal and Assistant Principal's Week to the heart of our school! 🎉 Today, we celebrate Mrs. Wilken's and Ms. Stephens' incredible leadership, vision, and dedication to creating a positive, supportive environment for every student and staff member. Thank you for guiding our school with passion and integrity! 👏

KWCPS is now accepting applications for Preschool Registration for the 26-27 school year. See the flyer for more information.

🔥 Math is Powerful! 🔥
In December, our Logical Ladies Math Club took math into the real world with a special focus on the fire department. Guests from the James City County and Henrico Fire Departments, including two AES dads, shared how they use math every day on the job.
The ladies explored how ratios are used to calculate medical dosages based on a patient’s body weight, then put their skills to the test by measuring out their own “dosages.” During ropes rescue, they discovered how ratios and mechanical advantage determine how much weight can be safely lifted or pulled using a traveling pulley system.
Best part? They didn’t just learn it, they pulled some really heavy stuff!

We had a wonderful House Meeting today with Cool Spring! Bigs & Littles got to read together. Thanks Ms. Conry & Ms. Miller for planning a thoughtful event for our Eagles & Cubs!

We wanted to let our families know that the 3rd-grade performance has been postponed. Due to the snow days, some students have missed out on important rehearsal time. My goal is to make sure every student feels confident, prepared, and excited to share their hard work on stage! 😊
We’ll share the new date as soon as it’s confirmed. Thank you for your understanding and support! 💛🎭 - Mrs. Tiomno (AES Music)

Greetings! The current weather forecast for Friday morning continues to predict snowfall with up to several inches of accumulation by 8:00 AM, which is likely to create hazardous road conditions for the morning commute. As a result, and with safety in mind, all KWCPS schools and offices will be closed for in-person learning on Friday, December 5. Students will have an asynchronous Flex/Remote Learning day at home. Maintenance/custodial staff will be contacted by their supervisor regarding work hours, if needed. We will continue to monitor weather, road, and facility conditions throughout the day and provide additional updates to families and staff as needed. Have a safe weekend ahead!

🪨📄✂️Ms. Renick's 5th-grade class held a week-long Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. Congratulations to Jessa for being the class champion!

Mrs. Phillips' 5th-grade GT class learned about flying drones today from Ms. Van den Ende. Their enthusiasm and excitement were fun to watch.
