The Logical Ladies are back!
We kicked off our first club meeting of the year by exploring Rube Goldberg machines with the classic board game Mouse Trap! The girls put their engineering eyes to work, identifying types of kinetic and potential energy as they watched the elaborate trap in action. Then we supersized the math! We scaled the shoe up to life-size and calculated how tall the man and the mouse would be if the entire game were scaled up too!

It’s National School Lunch Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible meals that keep nearly 30 million kids energized, focused, and ready to learn every single day! Ever since President John F. Kennedy founded this special week back in 1962, NSLW has been all about recognizing the power of a healthy, delicious lunch—both inside the classroom and out on the playground.

🌻Mrs. Jones' 5th Grade Class dissected Daylilies during their Plant Science unit. Students were able to identify the different parts of the flower as well as record the quantity of each individual part found in the Daylily.

What better way to spend a FriYAY than talking about how to BE KIND?! This week, Mrs. Lyle's 3rd grade classroom tackled anti-bullying with a little help from Kid President! We watched his inspiring Pep Talk and reflected on two powerful reminders: "You exist, occupy space, and matter, which is a scientific fact," and "Don't be a bully. Don't even be a bully to bullies! That just makes more bullies."
To put these ideas into action, students created "Kindness Rainbows," filling every colorful strand with concrete ways to show kindness to others. We wrapped up with a discussion on self-acceptance, celebrating that we are all unique, amazing, and meant to proudly BE OURSELVES. Keep those heads held high, because every single student matters! "We are all unique and weird and amazing in our own ways. Sure you'll have your ups and downs, but keep that head up. YOU matter." -Kid President 🌈✨

Our little ghouls and goblins have been busy learning all about visualization and creating mental images as they worked on their persuasive writing this unit. Today, they got to put their imaginations to work and bring those words to LIFE by creating their very own haunted houses!
Now, the real question is… WHO will be able to use their spook-tacular persuasive writing skills to convince Mrs. Belvin to buy their haunted house?! Will it be the creepy crawlies? The spooky surprises? The questionable plumbing? 😂
Stay tuned… Mrs. Belvin might just be moving into a haunted house! BOO! 🎃👻🕸️

Mrs. Davis's class participated in an experiment where students made a hypothesis about what would happen to an M&M when it was submerged in water over time. Some students even added a second M&M to see if the colors combined!
